Who is Johann Christoph Denner?
Mr. Johann Christoph Denner was a German inventor, born August 13, 1655; in Leipzig, Germany. From an early age, he was introduced to a variety of instruments, as his father made horns and animal calls. Johann learned the skill of manufacturing instruments, and at the same time became an excellent performer. His main focus was on improving woodwind instruments like the flute, oboe, and recorders. It was between the years 1690 and 1700 that through Johann's attempt to refine an earlier instrument, the Chalumeau; that he created the clarinet. After his death in 1707, Johann's sons continued to improve instruments.
