As a new student entering into the world of music earlier this year, I had one question. Which instrument shall I chose to learn? Well my first choice was to play the flute because of it's simple design and small size. It didn't take very long to realize that the flute wasn't the instrument for me. So I moved on to my next option- the clarinet. You may ask "What is a Clarinet?" well according to the definition from dictionary.com,
Clarinet:
Noun; A woodwind instrument in the form of a cylindrical tube with a single reed attached to it's mouthpiece.
A clarinet is a cylindrical instrument from the woodwind family. Okay, so what does that mean? Well, it means that the "body" of the clarinet is a long, round, hollow tube, with a flared bottom called a bell. There are holes cut into the sides of this cylindrical tube, which by covering when blowing air through the instrument, sound is produced. These are called tone holes. To better understand the how the clarinet works I have attached a video on how clarinets are made.

So I hope you enjoyed watching the video and now have some more knowledge on what a clarinet is, and how it works. Below this, you will also find an additional video about how Rico Reeds are made...
