Who is Sharon Kam?
Born August 11, 1971 Sharon Kam grew up in the world of music. Her mother played and continues to play with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. It was through numerous of her performances that Sharon too wanted to join this "fascinating world." Sharon Kam is originally from Israel, and has studied under both Eli Eban and Chaim Taub. She performs both classical and jazz pieces. At age 16 after her debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Ms. Kam was both greatly encourage and mentored by Isaac Stern. She later graduated from the Julliard School Of Music, in New York where she studied under a Charles Neidich. In 1992, she was the winner of the ARD International Competition, and since then has been performing with world renown orchestras in Europe, the United States, and Japan. In 2006 on the occasion of legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th birthday, Ms. Kam performed his complete clarinet concerto on live television from the Estates Theater in Prague. She recently fulfilled her dream to record Mozart's clarinet quintet and concerto.
In Her spare time Ms. Kam enjoys playing with her children and teaching herself to play the saxophone. She currently resides at her home in Hanover, Germany.
